In a collaboration with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), a consultative workshop has been organized and held for two afternoons of the 11th and 12th of September 2018 in order to bring potential local and international resources together to generate professional and practical experiences to get the existing psychiatry training curriculum reviewed to be more up to date.
The workshop was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine – Asst. Prof. Dr. Bounchan Youttiroung, the Head of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse – Dr. Chhit Sophal, the President of the EMDR Cambodia Association – Mrs. Serey Samchet, Vice Dean – Prof. Dr. Mam Bunsocheat, and Vice Dean – Asst. Prof. Dr. Hav Ratneary. In this particular event, a Professional Director from the Mekong III project, Dr. Parichawan Chandarasiry, was invited to give a presentation on the second session of the workshop as well.
Participants in the workshop were senior and junior psychiatrists who are working at public and referral hospitals such as Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital, Preah Kosomak Hospital, referral hospital from Pursat, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom and Kampong Cham provinces. There were also the head and a key lecturer of the Department of Psychology of the Royal University of Phnom Penh invited to the workshop.
Residency students of the current academic years of the psychiatry training from the UHS were also invited to participate.
