World Mental Health Day: Reaching out to the local population

On the occasion of the World Mental Health Day on October 10, EMDR Association Cambodia is carrying out a series of awareness raising workshops together with different partners in five provinces. The objective is to reduce the stigma of mental health issues in the country and to ease the access to mental health services.

The rate of Cambodians suffering from mental health issues is high. But many people do not seek support because they fear stigma or don’t have the opportunity to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. That’s why EMDR Association Cambodia on this year’s World Mental Health Day decided to collaborate with different NGOs and organizations in Siem Reap, Battambang, Kampong Chhnang, Takeo and Phnom Penh to offer awareness raising activities to different groups of people. The training sessions are free and last 60-90 minutes. Participants are the local community populations including teachers, villagers, students, local authorities, and members of the LGBTQI+ community.

If you are interested to carry out such a training in your community, please contact any EMDR Cambodia office by phone, e-mail or in person.
